Cartoon Network has greenlit Summer Camp Island, an animated series based around an original animated short that debuted at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah at the beginning of the month.  The short was created by British animator and illustrator Julia Pott (Adventure Time).

It follows the story of Oscar and his best friend Hedgehog as they spend time at a magical summer camp that includes witches, unicorns and monsters. The series will pick up right where the short left off, which will be available to audiences again at the Flatpack Film Festival in April.

The film also screened at the Ottawa International Film Festival, Toronto International Film Festival and American Film Institute.

CN has also been focusing on digital ventures of late,  recently partnering with You.i TV to adapt the Cartoon Network App and appointing WildBrain to manage its YouTube channels.
