The US toymaker’s new tea party-inspired line includes toys, a playset, webisodes and an interactive app.

Jakks Pacific is kicking off 2017 with a tea party. The California-based toymaker is launching Cuppatinis, a line of 3.5-inch dolls that transform into teacups.

The dolls are available exclusively through Walmart in the US and Canada. The launch includes six dolls—Cha Cha Chai, Carmela la Crème, Rose Hippensip, Mocha Lisa, Lola Vander and Jasmint—and the Cuppatinis Spin Tea Party playset.

A single doll will retail for US$5.00 MSRP, while a doll with an accessory tea table or tea cart will retail for US$9.99 MSRP. The playset sits at US$19.99 and includes one Jasmint doll.

In addition to the toy line, Jakks is also launching a series of webisodes about the Cuppatinis characters on its YouTube channel. The dolls will also be featured in four different modes of play—Tea Party, Dress Up, Games and Crafts—through the Cuppatinis Tea Party interactive app. The free app is available through Android and iOS.

Jakks has taken on a number of new products in recent months. The toymaker was named as the exclusive US distributor for the Ooshies line of collectibles and is also moving the Tsum Tsum stackable and collectible figures featuring hundreds of stylized Disney characters.

However, Jakks has also had to contend with Brexit, the subsequent devaluation of the British pound and lower-than-expected sales of a number of movie-licensed products, which led to a drop in its Q3 sales last year.
