Ben Cox has been named VP and GM of Nickelodeon Networks Australia and New Zealand, where he will be responsible for 24-hour subscription TV networks, digital platforms, live events, recreation destinations, consumer products, local productions and program sales.
Cox will be based in Nickelodeon’s East Sydney headquarters as of mid-February and will report to Ben Richardson, SVP and GM of Viacom International Media Networks Australia and New Zealand.
Previously, Cox was GM of content aggregation at Australian pay-TV company Foxtel. He was also an alternate director on the board of Nickelodeon Australia Management Pty, which is a joint venture between Viacom International Media Networks and Foxtel.
During his time there, he helped launch the Nick Play app, which is a VOD and game app for Foxtel subscribers. He also worked on Foxtel’s own kids SVOD app.
The hire follows on the heels of Nickelodeon’s recent move into eBooks, as well as the announcement of an undersea resort and theme park in Asia.
