Genius Brands International has appointed Barcelona-based Luk Internacional as its content distribution, licensing and merchandising agent for tween music series SpacePOP in Spain, Portugal and Italy. The distributor will debut the brand and series in those territories next year.

The SpacePOP series includes more than 100 episodes, with original music as a part of the story that follows five teenage princesses pretending to be musicians in order to rid the galaxy of an evil Empress. The original music for the series is created by Ron Fair (producer for Fergie, Black Eyed Peas and Mary J. Blige) and his wife, singer-songwriter Stefanie Fair.

The series launched on YouTube in June, and has since garnered more than 11 million views. It is now available in the US on multiple digital platforms including Toon Goggles and the Kid Genius Cartoon Channel on Comcast. It’s launching later this month on Amazon, Apple TV, Roku and Google. Genius Brands also recently struck a deal with California-based Kabillion to debut the series on Kabillion Girls Rule!

The brand just recently released its first line of merchandise in the US at mass retailers, including Toys “R” US, Kohl’s and Claire’s. The line includes Madame Alexander dolls, headphones and microphones with KID design and beauty products from Taste Beauty.
