Entertainment One will bring its perennially popular preschool series Peppa Pig to cinemas in the UK and Australia next year.

Nine new five-minute episodes of Peppa Pig will be connected with never-before-seen interactive entertainment in an hour-long cinema format called Peppa Pig My First Cinema Experience. Fans will be able to see Peppa on the big screen in Australia and the UK on March 16 and April 7, respectively.

A collection of London and Australia-themed Peppa Pig merch will be released at retail in spring 2017 to coincide with the theatrical releases. Categories include toys, accessories and publishing.

In Australia, the release of Peppa Pig My First Cinema Experience: Peppa’s Australian Holiday will mark the brand’s big-screen debut Down Under. The premiere will be led by a four-part special that follows Peppa and her family as they vacation in Australia to visit their friend Kylie Kangaroo. eOne is partnering with the Australian Tourist Board for the film’s release.

In the UK, Peppa Pig My First Cinema Experience will lead with new episode Peppa Visits London, which sees Peppa tour London on a double-decker bus. The eight additional episodes include adventures to the zoo and taking a cruise.

The big-screen initiatives come as Peppa Pig’s popularity continues to soar. During the first half of this year, eOne’s Family Division saw revenue growth of 16% to US$46.9 million, largely driven by Peppa’s merch sales.
