L.A.-based Genius Brands International (GBI) has secured a deal with digital video distribution company Future Today to deliver its children’s entertainment VOD channel Kid Genius to 20 million additional US households.
With the deal, Kid Genius is now available to OTT platforms including Roku, Apple, Amazon Fire, Sony, Google and Samsung, bringing its total reach to 42 million US homes, or nearly half of all US television households.
Prior to the deal, the Kid Genius toon portfolio for toddlers to tweens reached 22 million homes via Comcast’s Xfinity on Demand platform, which launched the channel in fall 2015.
Along with original programs likeĀ Baby Genius, SpacePOP, Warren Buffett’s Secret Millionaires Club (pictured) and Thomas Edison’s Secret Lab, Kid Genius offers third-party titles including Eddie Is A Yeti and Nancy Drew Codes & Clues.
Future Today’s cloud-based platform works with more than 500 content partners, and its custom-branded channels have generated more than 17 million downloads.
GBI’s new partnership comes as the company is growing its global distribution footprint led by its president of global consumer products, worldwide content sales and marketing, Stone Newman, and new SVP of global distribution, Jo Kavanagh-Payne.
