Lagardère Active has acquired the rights to Calm Island’s VOD preschool show Badanamu, for French speaking Europe and Africa. The deal includes related CGI-animated shorts, more than 70 songs, and the preschool series Badanamu Imagine That! (52 x eight minutes), which is currently in production. Once delivered, the series will be broadcast on Tiji, Gulli and YouTube.

Badanamu currently has 1.3 billion views online and is designed to teach children about STEM-related fields through  music. (The property was also recently picked up by MoMedia for distribution.)

South Korea-based Calm Island has also created and sold other educational properties focused on literacy and STEM development for children aged 12 months to six years to more than 30 countries. According to the company, it has to date invested more than US$10 million in developing the Badanamu brand, including  the series, music, books, mini-games, apps and a YouTube channel with more than 340,000 subscribers.
