Czech Republic’s national pubcaster Ceska Televize has picked up the free-to-air rights for approximately 200 half hours of children’s programming from Belgian indie prodco Studio 100, including its hit CGI-animated series Vic the Viking (pictured).

Based on popular children’s book series Vicke Viking by Swedish author Runer Jonsson, Vic the Viking now broadcasts in 100 countries worldwide and is a re-imagined version of the original series that first aired more than 40 years ago.

Classic series Maya the Bee, Molly Monster, Big & Small and Knietzsche are among the other animated series featured in the deal.

The sale follows Studio 100’s output deal earlier this year with Dutch kids entertainment platform RTL Telekids and the launch of beJunior, Studio 100 Media’s new pay-TV children’s channel for the MENA region.
