Disney Channel and former House of Mouse star Raven-Symoné are bringing That’s So Raven to a new generation of kids and tweens.
The family sitcom will continue the story of Raven-Symoné’s character from the original Disney Channel series, which when it premiered in 2003, was the channel’s first original multi-camera production. The show followed Raven Baxter, a teenager whose ability to see into the future often got her into trouble.
The new untitled series will follow Raven, now a divorced mother to two pre-teen kids (a son and a daughter), one of whom has inherited her ability to see into the future.
Writer/producer partners Scott Thomas and Jed Elinoff (Best Friends Whenever, R.L. Stine’s The Haunting Hour) are developing the spin-off, with Raven-Symoné executive producing. Preliminary casting for the show has begun.
That’s So Raven wrapped in January 2006 after 100 episodes. When the series first aired, it posted the highest ratings ever in households with kids ages six to 11 and boys ages six to 11 for a Disney Channel original series at the time.
