Touch Press, a new educational digital publisher that will integrate the portfolios of New York-based Amplify Games, Irish mobile developer StoryToys and London-based Touchpress, has launched for the kindergarten through middle-school cohort.
Series A funding for Touch Press was led by an investment vehicle backed by Emerson Collective. The venture will be led by Story Toys CEO Barry O’Neill from its headquarters in New York, while teams will be maintained stateside as well as in Dublin, Ireland.
The digital publisher will feature apps from Amplify, which to date have only been available in schools, as well as StoryToys’ apps that are based on such characters as The Very Hungry Caterpillar (pictured), Elmo and Batman.
Meanwhile, Touchpress apps, including The Elements by Theodore Gray, Solar System for iPad, Shakespeare’s Sonnets and Leonardo Da Vinci: Anatomy, will also be integrated into the new venture.
The Touch Press Games portfolio will be available with an option for subscription pricing. Users with the subscription option will have access to games without in-app purchases or advertising. New games and apps will be added each month at no extra cost.
