Canadian pubcaster TVOKids has commissioned Little Engine Moving Pictures’ new live-action/animated preschool series Canada Crew.

Currently in production at Toronto-based Little Engine, Canada Crew will teach tots about the people, places and spaces across Canada. It is hosted by three puppets that tour the country and interview real-life, high-profile Canadians.

The 26 x seven-minute series is distributed by Breakthrough Entertainment, and will premiere on TVO on July 1, 2017—Canada’s 150th anniversary.

Canada Crew is created and executive produced by Little Engine co-founders Ben Mazzotta and Maria Kennedy with TVOKids director Marney Malabar also serving as executive producer. In addition, Mazzotta is the show’s head writer, director and animator.

The series will also be available online on and via TVOKids’ YouTube channel. Meanwhile, Little Engine’s puppetry preschool series Now You Know, with guests like Chris Hadfield, Keshia Chante, and PK Subban, premiered on TVOKids earlier this month.
