Following the ratings success of kids cooking show First Class Chefs, Disney Channel UK and Ireland has commissioned First Class Chefs – Family Style, a short-form online spinoff series produced by chef Jamie Oliver’s studio Fresh One Productions.

Announced at the Children’s Media Conference taking place in Sheffield this week, the 10 x five-minute series will put contestants from season one (ages 10 to 12 from across the UK) on one of 10 teams. In each standalone episode, two teams will square off, armed with just US$6.50 and one hour to create a healthy meal to be judged on menu selection, buying and cooking skills by the show’s host.

First Class Chefs – Family Style will air across Disney’s multiple digital platforms, including, DisneyLife and Disney Channel YouTube prior to its Disney Channel television debut this fall.

A host chef and presenter for the program will be announced in the coming weeks. The original series, which starred chef Michel Roux Jr., and was co-presented by The Evermoor Chronicles stars Georgia Lock and Finney Cassidy, became the top-rated children’s cooking show on UK pay-TV in 2015.

The First Class Chefs format supports Disney Channel’s strategy to broadcast more healthy living-related programming, which was implemented in early 2014.
