With a growing global portfolio of brands in place, California-based Genius Brands International (GBI) is putting all worldwide marketing initiatives into the hands of its consumer products president Stone Newman.

In his newly expanded role as president of global consumer products & marketing, Newman will oversee licensing and merchandising programs and marketing initiatives for brands including SpacePOP, Llama Llama, Thomas Edison’s Secret Lab and Baby Genius.

Newman has run GBI’s global consumer products business since joining the company in 2014. (He previously founded boutique licensing agency Art + Science International and toy manufacturer Sababa Toys.) Additionally, he has managed licensing programs under GBI’s wholly owned subsidiary, A Squared Entertainment.

In the mainframe for Newman is GBI’s new music label, Genius Brands Music, which launched last month in partnership with Sony Music Entertainment. The company’s girl-skewing tween brand SpacePOP is also preparing to launch this summer with entertainment content and a retail program in place.
