UK-based CAKE Entertainment and Aussie prodcos Cheeky Little Media and Mighty Nice have inked a UK publishing deal with Hodder Children’s Books for their new CGI series Bottersnikes & Gumbles.

The Hachette Children’s Group subsidiary will publish a series of young fiction, sticker and activity books aimed at six- to nine-year-olds based on the 52 x 11-minute series, which will bow on CBBC in July.

Bottersnikes & Gumbles is also co-produced by CBBC in the UK and Seven Network in Australia, and is a Netflix global original title. The series follows the timeless battle between the lazy Bottersnikes and the fun-loving, stretchy Gumbles.

The TV series was adapted from a four-book series by Australian writer S. A. Wakefield and illustrator Desmond Digby’s, which was published between 1967 and 1989.

It’s been a busy spring for CAKE, which, along with French studio TeamTO, licensed Angelo Rules to Super RTL for German-speaking territories. CAKE also inked a deal with Televisa’s new Latin American SVOD service blim for more than 200 hours of kids content.
