Corus Entertainment’s Teletoon Canada has ordered Chop Chop Ninja, a 40 x 11-minute animated series from Sardine Productions and Gamerizon based on the Montreal companies’ Chop Chop Ninja Challenge mobile short series.

With support from Canada’s Shaw Rocket Fund, the action-comedy longer-form series will follow the antics of a clumsy ninja named Iro and his three best buds as they train to become Chop Chop ninjas.

The Chop Chop brand originally launched as a mobile game franchise by Gamerizon and has generated more than 17 million downloads on the Apple App Store. The IP’s non-verbal spin-off short series currently airs in more than 100 territories. Broadcast and digital partners already running them include Nickelodeon International, China’s iQIYI, Disney (Australia, New Zealand, Latin America), VRT (Belgium), NRK Super (Norway) and Indosiar (Indonesia).

Teletoon supports the shorts with two online games, and a full multi-screen experience is expected for the new longer-form series.
