As the girl-skewing superhero concept continues to show some serious retail potential, a full merchandise line inspired by the new DC Super Hero Girls brand is set to touch down at Target stores across the US beginning next month.

The brand features the most iconic female superheroes, including Wonder Woman, Supergirl and Batgirl, as they learn to hone their super powers in a high school setting.

Partnering for the launch are Warner Bros Consumer Products, DCEntertainment and master toy partner Mattel, who together will launch a line that includes toys, dress-up costumes, apparel, accessories and publishing. Mattel’s toy lineup includes the first-ever six-inch action figure designed for girls, a 12-inch collection of action dolls featuring strong and athletic bodies, and the first action role-play toys for girls.

The Target launch serves as the first step in a global merchandising program for DC Super Hero Girls that is kicking off this summer.

But before then, a DC Super Hero Girls animated television special will debut on Turner-owned Boomerang this spring. Created by Warner Bros. Animation in partnership with Mattel’s Playground Productions, the 44-minute special will be accompanied by digital animated shorts that will also be featured on Cartoon Network’s CN App.

Additionally, WBCP, DC and Mattel will be launching a DC Super Hero Girls App in March, allowing young girls the opportunity to watch the animated shorts, play games and connect with other fans.
