Toronto, Canada-based Tricon Film & Television EVP of distribution and business development Jon Rutherford is departing the company at the end of this week.

Rutherford is leaving the production company, which produces such children’s programs as The Next Star and Wildernuts, for a new position that has not yet been announced, the company said in a release.

The move has prompted a restructure of the company’s distribution arm, with Karthiga Ratnasabapathy promoted to VP of worldwide sales and acquisitions. In her new role, Ratnasabapathy will be responsible for continuing to expand Tricon’s rights management and distribution business, along with overseeing and growing the company’s distribution team.

Prior to her promotion, Ratnasabapathy was director of digital sales and acquisitions at Tricon. Before joining the company in 2013, Ratnasabapathy was the head of the digital and transactional team at Entertainment One, where she spearheaded agreements with VOD, EST, SVOD and linear partners.

Tricon launched its Kids & Family division in August 2013 with the mandate to feature both acquired content and new projects in development.
