ITV Studios Global Entertainment (ITV SGE), the global distributor and licensor for Thunderbirds Are Gohas appointed Global Licensing as the New Zealand licensing agent for the rebooted action-adventure series.

As part of the deal, Global worked with master toy partner Vivid Imaginations to name Auckland, New Zealand-based Planet Fun as the local toy distributor. The first batch of products from Vivid (figurines, vehicles, play sets, diecast, role play, dress up) will begin rolling out in the spring/summer.

And in a separate agreement, TVNZ has picked up broadcast rights for Thunderbirds Are Go, which will begin airing on New Zealand’s TV2 on April 12.

Co-produced by ITV Studios in London and New Zealand’s Pukeko Pictures, in association with Weta Workshop, the series’ remake coincides with the 50th anniversary of the original.

The first episode in the brand new 26 x 22-minute series for kids five to 11 debuted on April 4 in the UK on ITV.
