Room on the Broom flies into second app

Magic Light Pictures has launched its second app for the Room on the Broom franchise, Room on the Broom: Flying.

London, England-based production company Magic Light Pictures has launched new app Room on the Broom: Flying, based on the the classic picture book Room on the Broom written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler.

The second app in the Room on the Broom franchise, Flying is available for iOS devices on the Apple App Store, for US$1.17 (79p).

Aimed at kids three to seven, the game lets them take control of Witch’s magical broomstick and zoom through the sky, collecting as many stars as possible while avoiding the fire-breathing dragon. Kids can also pick up letters as they fly and practice spelling out words.

Magic Light continues to grow the Room on the Broom franchise. The animated movie premiered on BBC One in the UK in 2012 with 7.6 million viewers. To date, Magic Light’s distribution arm has sold the film to over 30 broadcasters and it has aired in more than 167 countries worldwide.

The first phase of its merchandising program has also rolled out with plush and puzzles. The DVD launched in the UK in March 2013 with more than 100,000 units sold to date, and more than 110,000 units shipped in the US since its release in August.

The Room on the Broom, first published in 2001 by Macmillan, has sold more than two million copies worldwide.
