Scholastic has picked up worldwide English-language publishing right for new preschool series Little Charmers, co-produced by Canada’s Spin Master Entertainment and Nelvana.

The agreement gives Scholastic global English-language rights to make and market a range of books based on the CGI-animated show, which follows a trio of friends as they come to terms with their magic powers.

Scholastic plans to launch the books in the US and Canada in spring 2016, beginning with two storybooks: Meet the Charmers and Double Trouble. The publisher will follow that up with additional formats (eight x eight, readers, paper-over-board, activity books, eBooks) at retail, book fairs and Scholastic book clubs throughout 2016.

Scholastic UK and Scholastic Australia/New Zealand are slated to roll the books out to local retailers in fall 2016.

Little Charmers (80 x 11 minutes) debuted in January and currently airs on Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. in the US and Treehouse in Canada. And with a global Nickelodeon broadcast deal in hand, the series will soon be headed to other countries.

Spin Master and Nelvana, which worked hand-in-hand during the animation process, will launch a full Little Charmers toy program at retail this fall in the US. It will initially be driven by plush, a doll line, as well as costumes and role play items.

Spin Master also recently tapped former Entertainment One exec  Laura Clunie  to helm the girls preschool property in her role as VP of creative affairs, girls and preschool.
