Guru taps Nickelodeon exec to lead content development

Guru Studio has hired former Nickelodeon US exec Rachel Marcus as its new development executive.

Toronto, Canada’s Guru Studio has hired Rachel Marcus, a former digital content development producer at Nickelodeon US, as its new development executive.

Marcus will be responsible for developing all content (domestic/international) for the studio, sourcing new IPs and overseeing strategic positioning.

She will also work with artists to source, create and pitch new concepts, research market gaps and trends, as well as promote content to broadcasters. She’ll also build relationships between creative and financing partners and develop new growth strategies with Guru’s president and EVP.

Marcus brings to Guru a strong track record of discovering new talent and innovative properties. While at Nickelodeon, she developed new digital games and short-form linear content for Nick.com and Nick Jr.

Marcus steps into her new role on March 27.
