First-ever Irish Animation Awards introduced

To acknowledge and celebrate the creative talent within Ireland's animation, VFX and gaming industries, Animation Ireland has introduced its first-ever awards ceremony. Up for Best Animated Preschool Series is Lily's Driftwood Bay (pictured) from Sixteen South.

To acknowledge and celebrate the creative talent within Ireland’s animation, VFX and gaming industries, Animation Ireland has introduced its first-ever awards ceremony.

The inaugural Irish Animation Awards will take place on Friday, March 13 at Dingle Skelligs Hotel, in Dingle, Ireland.

Featuring 12 categories, the awards include Best Animated Preschool Series—for which Lily’s Driftwood Bay (pictured) from Sixteen South is nominated—Kids Choice Award for Best Animated Series and Best Animated Short Film.

Two judges have been assigned to each category, choosing the shortlist and the final winner. Chairs and Judges include Jackie Edwards (executive producer, Cbeebies Animation), Tim Patterson (VP, director of programming, Nickelodeon UK), Sarah Muller (head of acquisitions, CBBC), Helen McAleer (chief global development officer, the Walker Group) and a host of other animation and children’s TV executives.
