UK pubcaster CBBC has ordered another two seasons of London-based Zig Zag Productions’ game show format Ultimate Brain.

Zig Zag is on deck to produce a second and third season, each 10 x half hours. The quiz show, which focuses on science, is filmed in a giant brain-shaped studio set.

Originally a popular family game show on Japan’s NTV, the kid-focused remake sees Dr. Brain pit children and CBBC celebrities against one another in a series of science-based tasks designed to find the Ultimate Brain.

Having acquired the UK rights for the format directly from NTV, Zig Zag also holds the US and Canadian rights to remake Ultimate Brain in those territories.

The deal is the prodco’s latest commission in the kids space, having previously sold 15 episodes of slow-motion, physical game show Split/Second to Nickelodeon.

Commissioned by CBBC controller Cheryl Taylor, Ultimate Brain is executive produced by Danny Fenton and Peter Wyles for Zig Zag and Hugh Lawton for CBBC.
