Chalk one up for hybrid productions. Disney XD has picked up a second season of popular live-action/animated comedy series Kirby Buckets.
The single-cam series from creators Gabe Snyder and Mike Alber (Supah Ninjas) will resume production in L.A. in March.
Kirby Buckets follows the comedic, high school exploits of the titular character (Marvin Marvin’s Jacob Bertrand), his two best human friends, Fish and Eli, and a group of animated friends who come to life through Kirby’s imagination.
The Horizon Productions series is executive produced by Kristofor Brown (Beavis and Butt-head) with animation by L.A.-based studio Titmouse (Turbo FAST).
In 2014, Kirby Buckets ranked among Disney XD’s top five series across all of its boys demographics.
