With the Tracy brothers set to hit screens once more in next year’s debut of Thunderbirds Are Go, UK kidsnet CITV has commissioned a second season of the reboot from its sister company ITV Studios and New Zealand’s Pukeko Pictures.
An additional 26 half hours are on-deck and set to air in 2016 and 2017. ITV Studios and Pukeko are again producing the eps in collaboration with Weta Workshop (Avatar, King Kong).
Season one kicks off next spring on ITV and CITV, 50 years after the classic show first debuted. International broadcasters that have also picked up the new series include TVNZ (New Zealand), Nine Network (Australia), Noga (Israel) and MBC (Middle East).
In advance of the premiere, Thunderbirds Are Go has a licensing program and master toy partner in place. ITV Studios Global Entertainment serves as global distributor and licensor for the series.
