In line with its global refresh of Boomerang, Turner Broadcasting is officially relaunching the kids brand and Cartoon Network companion channel in Asia from January 1, 2015.
Repositioned as an all-animated, family co-viewing experience providing exclusive original content for the first time, along with iconic Warner Bros. cartoons and acquired series, the new Boomerang will replace Turner’s preschool kidsnet Cartoonito in the Philippines, Cambodia, Indonesia, Hong Kong and Myanmar.
The channel, which first relaunched in Australia on November 3, will also be available in Singapore from January 1.
Boomerang’s lineup from January will include classic cartoons (Tom and Jerry, Looney Tunes, Scooby-Doo) along with the newly acquired Inspector Gadget reboot from DHX Media and DreamWorks Animation’s Turbo F.A.S.T.
In April, season two of the animated Mr. Bean series is scheduled to debut, and additional programming for 2015 will include the all-new Tom and Jerry and Be Cool, Scooby-Doo! series, as well as The Jungle Bunch to the Rescue!, which Turner acquired in October.
As the new brand rolls out to additional regions including the US next year, Turner also plans to release a complementary app for mobile devices with video and gaming content.
