Discovery Networks International (DNI) exec Sarah Davies is joining the team at the newly rebranded Discovery Family Channel.
Formerly the VP of production and factual development for DNI, she will contribute to strategic planning, network direction and channel management as VP of production and development.
On October 13, Discovery Communications rebranded The Hub, its joint venture network with toymaker Hasbro, as Discovery Family Channel after increasing its ownership stake in the network to 60%. Its programming is now a mix of Hasbro Studios-produced kids fare and original natural history, adventure, animal-oriented and science series and specials.
Davies is based out of the company’s Silver Springs, Maryland headquarters and reports to general manager Tom Cosgrove.
While at DNI, she oversaw a global programming portfolio that covered 220 countries in Western Europe, the Nordics, the Middle East, Africa, Latin America, Asia-Pacific and Central and Eastern Europe. Her credits include How We Invented the World, The Unexplained Files, Breaking Magic and Tethered.
Prior to joining Discovey in 2011, Davies led factual development at BBC Wales and headed up history development for the British pubcaster’s joint programming venture with Discovery.
