In advance of today’s television movie premiere, Disney XD has ordered a second season of the highly anticipated animated Star Wars Rebels series from Disney-owned Lucasfilm.

After a successful lead-up that kicked off with an advance debut screening at San Diego Comic-Con in July and additional previews earlier this week across WATCH Disney XD and other digital platforms, Star Wars Rebels launches officially at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Disney Channel US with the TV movie Star Wars Rebels: Spark of Rebellion.

The movie will then make its Disney XD debut in the US on Monday, October 6 at 8 p.m. ET/PT, before Star Wars Rebels the series bows on the channel on October 13 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

Set in the era between prequel film Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, the new TV series honors the adventurous and comedic tone of the original trilogy while introducing new characters and creatures to the iconic universe.

Star Wars Rebels is set to reach 163 countries in more than 400 million households and will be translated into 34 languages.

The property’s licensing and merchandising program from Disney Consumer Products has also just been announced, covering books, apps, costumes, lunch boxes and action figures (Of course).
