Star Wars Rebels: Attack of the consumer products

The Star Wars Rebels animated show launches next month while Disney Consumer Products unveils a wide assortment of CPs from Hasbro, Lego, Jay Franco and Rubies.

With a highly anticipated seventh movie in the Star Wars franchise coming to theaters next year, Disney Consumer Products is readying the next generation of fans with an array of games, toys and apparel based on the upcoming animated TV series Star Wars Rebels.

Disney Publishing Worldwide will launch a book program, with titles such as the concept art picture book Star Wars Rebels: A New Hero and the original chapter book series Star Wars Rebels: Servants of the Empire. There will also be an update next month for the Star Wars Journeys episodic series apps.

Hitting shelves will be action figures (SRP US$5.99 to US$9.99) and a Star Wars Rebel lightsaber (SRP US$29.99) from Hasbro, a Lego set of the rebel’s starship The Ghost (SRP US$89.99), Halloween costumes from Rubie’s (SRP US$21.99 to US$29.99) and bedding from licensee Jay Franco (SRP US$14.99 to 32.99).

Fans will also be able to customize items such as school supplies, party invitations and apparel with Star Wars Rebels characters at with the “Create Your Own” feature.

Other Star Wars Rebels CPs include lunchboxes from Thermos (pictured), t-shirts from Mad Engine, and scooters from Huffy.

Star Wars Rebels will debut October 3 on Disney Channel and continue on Disney XD starting October 13. The timeline for the story takes place between the events of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars Episode VI: A New Hope, a time when the Galactic Empire has a strong control of the star systems, the Jedi Knights are close to extinction, and a group of heroes lead a rebellion.
