Zodiak Kids’ prodco The Foundation has started work on The Floogals, its new CGI/live-action preschool series co-produced and commissioned by US cablenet Sprout.
Produced in alliance with London-based investment partner Nevision Limited, with animation and VFX support from UK-based special effects studio Jellyfish, the 52 x 11-minute series based on an original idea from Dan Good (Waybuloo) is expected to air on Sprout in 2015.
The Foundation says the UK Animation Tax Credit has enabled it to shoot and animate the series entirely in the UK.
The Floogals follows the wild and comedic adventures of three diminutive and curious aliens from Planet Floog that land on Earth, take up residence in a suburban home and embark on daily missions, exploring things that fascinate them like bubble baths, birthday cakes and garden hoses.
Former Zodiak Kids CEO Nigel Pickard, who just joined new UK-based content company Dial Square 86 as a director, has maintained his executive producer role on the series for The Foundation and is joined by James Cabourne who is executive producing for Nevision.
Ceri Barnes is showrunner with Shynola directing. Zodiak Kids will distribute internationally in 2015.
