As the lines between digital and traditional TV continue to blur, Spain’s Imira Entertainment is looking to stay ahead of the curve. The production company has inked a content deal with Samsung, whereby the tech giant will carry Imira’s new ImiraPlay app on its connected TVs.

At launch, five original Imira Entertainment series will be available on the app, including Lucky Fred, Lola & Virginia, Saari, Vitamix and Sandra, the Fairytale Detective. Users can watch five free eps of each show, after which they’ll have to subscribe for more. The Samsung platform will also carry Imira’s existing apps, which will be built into new Samsung Smart TV sets at retail.

Imira Entertainment currently distributes a catalog of more than 3,000 half hours of kids programming, including animated feature films. The Spanish prodco recently brought its tween-skewing Lola & Virginia series on-demand in North America with Amazon. The company is also expanding its kids content, having recently signed global distribution deals for a raft of kids shows, including the popular Austrian live-action series Tom Turbo.
