Paris-based distributor Superights has sold two animated programs, Kika & Bob (pictured) and preschool-targeted Picnic With Cake, to a number of new international broadcasters.

Discovery Kids Asia Pacific, MBC (Middle East), RTP (Portugal) and NRK (Norway) have snapped up 52 x 13-minute Kika & Bob, while RTS (Switzerland), RTP (Portugal) and Ceska Televize (Czech Republic) have acquired the 13 x five-minute Picnic With Cake and its 26-minute special.

Additional broadcasters already signed on for Kika & Bob include Canal+ Family (France), RTBF and VRT (Belgium), NPO (The Netherlands) and DR (Denmark). The slapstick series from Amsterdam prodco Submarine and co-producer Peachblossom Media features the globe-trotting adventures of nine-year-old Kika and her fireman friend Bob. It currently airs in 74 countries worldwide and has expanded to include 27 interactive web games.

Picnic With Cake is a multi-platform adaptation of the popular picture book of the same name by author Thé Tjong-Khing, which is published in more than 13 countries.

The IP includes an iPad game, Picnic With Cake – Little Fox’s Hunt For Cake, based on the TV special and an interactive website featuring a video player, coloring pages, kids recipes and tips for teachers and parents.

Earlier this year, Superights made another deal for Je Suis Bien Content’s animated series Boyster.
