Boston, Massachusetts-based public broadcaster and producer WGBH has optioned the rights to the pink-loving children’s book series Pinkalicious by illustrator and author Victoria Kann.

The public broadcaster is turning the rose-hued books into an animated TV series for kids ages three to eight. Curious George executive producer Dorothea Gillim is set to oversee the production.

Pinkalicious follows the life of Pinkalicious, a young girl who naturally loves the color pink. The power of pink helps her do creative things like talk with fairies or ride off on a unicorn during soccer practice. The book series, published by HarperCollins, debuted in 2006. It now includes close to 40 titles and has sold more than 17 million titles worldwide.

The colorful property joins WGBH’s slate of kids series, including Arthur (PBS), Curious George (PBS), PEEP and the Big Wide World (TLC), Time Warp Trio (Discovery Channel Kids) and Sara Solves It, a pilot in development for Amazon.
