Skylanders is going from “toys to life” to magazines. Penguin UK has picked up the world representation rights for a new Skylanders Universe magazine based on the popular videogame/action figure franchise.

Already with rights to Skylanders Universe books, Penguin will secure and manage licensees as part of its first step into magazine publishing.

Skylanders Universe magazine is set to launch in the UK in October, the same month slated for the arrival of the latest videogame installment of the franchise, Skylanders Trap Team. The magazine will have 13 issues published annually, targeting fans six to 12, with the latest news on Skylanders toys, as well as stories, activities, puzzles and competitions.

Immediate Media has signed on to produce the global magazine content, as well as distribute the magazine in the UK, while Penguin is coordinating with partners to expand the magazine’s availability around the globe.
