DHX Media brings more whimsy to Australian screens

DHX Media is expanding its preschool presence in Australia, following a DVD deal for the toddler-skewing property In the Night Garden.

The DHX Media-owned preschool property In the Night Garden is bolstering its presence in Australia, following a home entertainment deal with ABC Commercial.

The deal sees ABC Commercial, a division of pubcaster ABC, coming on board to release the whimsical toddler-targeted show (100 x half hours) on DVD.

In addition to the DVD deal, DHX Media has also tapped The Fusion Agency to rep the brand’s consumer products program in the region.

The preschool series already has a significant presence in the country: its partners include Jasnor as master toy licensee, Penguin Children’s Books for publishing and Caprice for themed apparel.

The show launched in March 2007 in the UK and airs in 36 countries, including the US, Canada, Australia, Spain and China. Following the show’s popular reception, DHX Media signed a deal with UK pubcaster CBeebies to ensure the series will stay on air until late 2020.
