Disney Television Animation has begun production on a brand new 2D-animated/live-action buddy comedy entitled Pickle & Peanut, and picked up new seasons of its hit series Mickey Mouse Cartoon Shorts and Wander Over Yonder.
Set to debut on Disney XD for fall 2015, Pickle & Peanut is the creation of Noah Z. Jones (Fish Hooks) and was developed by Yo Gabba Gabba!‘s Joel Trussell. Both are executive producing the series with Mark Rivers (Jimmy Kimmel Live!) on board as story editor.
The series follows the small-town adventures of two unlikely friends—an emotional pickle voiced by Napoleon Dynamite‘s Jon Heder and a free-spirited peanut voiced by 21 Jump Street‘s Johnny Pemberton—who long to be anything but ordinary.
For Disney’s new pickups, Mickey Mouse Cartoon Shorts season three is expected to further the global success of the acclaimed series which has to date reached more than 135 million viewers worldwide in 34 languages.
Executive produced by artist and director Paul Rudish (Star Wars: Clone Wars), the series currently airs daily on Disney Channel and Disney XD.
Additionally, Disney is ordering a second season of its popular animated series Wander Over Yonder, which follows the space-themed adventures of an optimistic cosmic traveler named Wander (30 Rock‘s Jack McBrayer).
The Craig McCracken-created and executive produced series premiered in September 2013 and currently airs daily on Disney XD in the US, and from July 1, Disney Channel will air the series on Fridays.
