Egmont Publishing rolls out Temple Run books

Egmont has signed a deal with Imangi Studios to become the global publishing rights holder for fiction and activity books based on hit mobile game Temple Run.

Egmont Publishing has picked up the global publishing rights for fiction and activity books based on Imangi Studio’s hit mobile game Temple Run.

After negotiating the deal with UK licensing agent Lisle International, Egmont’s ¬†first two titles in the “choose your own adventure” fiction series Run for Your Life! will hit bookstores this August in the UK, US and Australia, with more titles to roll out in 2014 and 2015. The activity books will take the shape of a tablet—with the distinct curved edges—and include mazes, stickers and puzzles.

Since launching the original app in 2011, Washington, DC-based Imangi Studios has expanded the Temple Run brand with apparel, digital comics, and card and board games.

The “endless running” platform game is one of the most downloaded app series of all-time. Within 13 days of the sequel’s release in January, Temple Run 2 was downloaded a record 50 million times. Imangi Studios announced the franchise collectively surpassed one billion downloads earlier this month, and of that consumer base, 60% of the players are female.
