London-based entertainment company Magic Light Pictures is adding another Julia Donaldson creation to its animated film roster.

Stick Man is an adaption of the popular picture book written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler. It’s the story of a stick man trying to get back to his family in time for Christmas. Magic Light is now producing the 30-minute animated film, set to air on BBC One in the UK next year.

First published by Alison Green Books, an imprint of Scholastic, Stick Man is the latest title from Donaldson and Scheffler to be adapted by Magic Light. The duo have a number of bestselling books, including The Gruffalo, The Gruffalo’s Child and Room on the Broom.

Their popular children’s book Room on the Broom was adapted to film for Christmas 2012. It won a BAFTA in 2013 and an international Kids Emmy Award. The DVD successfully launched in the UK in March 2013, with over 100,000 units sold to date. Magic Light manages production, licensing, global distribution and marketing for the content its produced based on Donaldson  and Scheffler’s work.
