UK-based interactive entertainment developer Dubit has opened its first US office, which is headed up by former Moshi TV exec Brad Schultz.

Schultz has been appointed VP of brand strategy and will oversee the growth of Dubit’s L.A.-based production facilities and support the company’s expanding US customer base, which now accounts for more than half of its business.

Schultz joins Dubit from his previous venture with kids talent network Tryout.net.

His prior roles include director of digital media at interactive kids entertainment channel Kabillion, where he helped expand and monetize the channel in more than 40 million US households. Schultz was also founder of mobile games publisher Flying Penguin. More recently, he was head of Moshi TV at Mind Candy, where he launched the company’s video initiatives and developed the plans for the recently released Moshi Monsters Movie.

At Dubit, Schultz will work with brands looking to extend their entertainment to children online, from initial research and business design through to digital production services.

Dubit was formed in 1999. The UK firm has operated in the US for a number of years and is currently working on the virtual world for the forthcoming movie Legends of Oz: Dorothy’s Return for San Francisco-based Summertime Entertainment.
