London-based indie Silvergate Media has signed a broadcasting and merchandising rights deal with Germany’s Super RTL for the Peter Rabbit brand across Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg and Alto Aldige.

Co-produced with Penguin UK and Nickelodeon US, the new Peter Rabbit animated series consists of 50 x 11-minute episodes and three half-hour specials. The series launched in the top time slot on Super RTL’s Toggolino in November.

The licensing and merchandising deal includes both incarnations of  Beatrix Potter’s popular rabbit, Classic Peter Rabbit and Peter Rabbit TV – based on the new CGI animated TV program. Activity planned for the brand includes promotions, live entertainment, music, magazine publishing and home entertainment.

The relationship between the companies isn’t a new one – Super RTL has been representing Silvergate’s Octonauts property in the territory for a number of years.
