Long-time president of Teletoon Canada Len Cochrane has announced he will exit the company this month following Corus Entertainment’s recent buyout of the remaining 50% stake in Teletoon from Bell Media.

Cochrane, a founding board member of Teletoon, helped create the idea for the network in the early 1990’s and was instrumental in its 1997 launch. He served as president from 2001, overseeing the activities of the animation station’s five English- and French-language nationwide television networks: Teletoon, Télétoon, Teletoon Retro, Télétoon Rétro and Cartoon Network Canada.

Cochrane is set to depart in mid to late January 2014. Meanwhile, Corus has yet to release details about how it intends to fully integrate Teletoon into its broadcasting and corporate structure, or when the takeover of Teletoon will be officially finalized.
