Marc Buhaj is stepping into the role of GM of Disney XD following David Levine’s transition to Disney Channels EMEA earlier this fall. Buhaj will also serve as the boy-skewing channel’s SVP of programming.
Buhaj, who joined Disney in 2007 and was most recently SVP of international original series and co-productions at Disney Television Animation, now reports to Sean Cocchia, SVP of business operations and GM of Disney Channels Worldwide, and Paul DeBenedittis, SVP of programming strategy, Disney Channels Worldwide.
Buhaj is responsible for fueling Disney XD’s growth through brand-focused leadership and strategic direction for the multiplatform brand and 24-hour channel in the US. He will also oversee strategic multiplatform programming and scheduling, and he will work with the programming team to identify acquisition and co-production opportunities. Additionally, Buhaj will provide support of the Disney XD channels around the world in original content development and programming acquisition strategy.
In the past, Buhaj has overseen Disney’s London-based production hub including animation and live action content, such as the popular tween telenovela Violetta with Disney Channel Latin America and Disney XD’s animated comedy series Randy Cunningham: 9th Grade Ninja.
From 2004 to 2007, Buhaj was VP of programming and scheduling for Cartoon Network and Boomerang in the US, where he directed all areas of programming and acquisitions and played a central role in launching Cartoon Network’s multiplatform initiatives including Ben 10.
In September, former Disney XD GM David Levine stepped into the role of VP of programming, production and strategic development for Disney Channels Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).
