ABC Television Australia and A Stark Production are set to co-develop Paris-based Technicolor’s CGI adaptation of the graphic novel series The Deep.
Technicolor, ABC Television and A Stark Production will develop stories targeting tweens, with a view to securing finance to produce 26 half hours. Technicolor will present The Deep to other potential partners at next month’s MIPJunior and MIPCOM.
Created by comic book author and playwright Tom Taylor (Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight, Star Wars: Blood Ties) and illustrator James Brouwer (Justice League Beyond), and published by Gestalt Comics, the underwater-themed book series blends science fiction and fantasy.
Technicolor’s Digital Productions Division is currently in development on several projects in addition to The Deep, including Atomic Puppet, a co-production with Canada’s Mercury Filmworks, and Chamelia, based on the book series from author Ethan Long.
