UK-based production house Random House Children’s Screen Entertainment  has optioned the debut novel from teen author Beth Reekles, entitled The Kissing Booth.

Random House Children’s Screen Entertainment secured the worldwide rights for book and sequels based on the success of both the eBook and physical editions. Originally self-published, Kissing Booth was released as an e-book in December 2012 by RHCP, and within a week of its release topped the children’s/young adult iBooks chart. A  paperback version was subsequently published in April.

Set in the US, the story centers on a shy teenager who comes face-to-face with her secret crush in a kissing booth at a school carnival.

RHCP has previously secured a three-book deal, including rights for the paperback version covering the US, Greece, Spain, Turkey and Hungary.
