1001 Nights heads to Discovery Kids Asia

Discovery Kids Channel Asia has snapped up 52 x 11-minute eps of Arabian-themed 2D-animated series 1001 Nights from Vancouver, Canada-based Big Bad Boo Studios.

Discovery Kids Channel Asia has snapped up 52 x 11-minute eps of 2D-animated series 1001 Nights from Vancouver, Canada-based Big Bad Boo Studios.

The pickup will see the comedy-adventure series reach more than 20 million homes in the region.

1001 Nights, which airs in more than 80 countries in 15 languages on channels including Disney (South Asia), Teletoon and CBC Radio Canada, Al Jazeera Children’s (Middle East) and ORF (Austria), features heroine Shahrzad and stories of the famed 1001 Arabian Nights (including Sinbad, Aladdin, and Ali Baba).

The series (now in season three) also has an accompanying comic book collection that has been published in six languages, novels and additional comics, and mobile apps and games are in the works for the IP.
