Twitter’s four-month-old social video platform Vine will host 12 videos using the iconic Peanuts characters following a deal with stop-motion animator Khoa Phan.
Commissioned by Peanuts Worldwide, Phan will develop a dozen original, six-second videos using the app. Videos will be based on 12 Peanut themes, including the kite-eating tree, Schroeder’s music, Linus’s blanket, Lucy’s psychiatry booth, Snoopy’s dog house, Snoopy himself, the Red Baron, Woodstock, baseball games, football games, the Great Pumpkin and the Little Red-Haired Girl.
The video-based app launched in January and has gained significant traction among Twitter users. Just three weeks after the service’s debut, roughly 2,500 Vine videos were being shared on Twitter each hour.
To date, Phan has created more than 100 Vine videos and has attracted more than 24,000 followers on the platform. Two of his videos were nominated in this year’s Tribeca Film Festival’s Animate category within the new #6secfilms online competition.
