Random House and Komixx Entertainment joint venture Random House Children’s Screen Entertainment (RHCSE) has optioned the Monkey Nuts comic series.

The full-service UK production house has secured property rights following interest from both linear and non-linear TV broadcasters. The series will target tween boys.

The slapstick comic is written and illustrated by Robin and Lawrence Etherington, also known as The Ehterington Brothers, who also created Malcolm Magic, Baggage and Long Gone Don.

RHCSE launched in 2009 to develop and produce screen entertainment exclusively from RHCP books and characters. The company’s first book-to-screen adaptation, Wanda the Alien, heads to UK-based Channel 5′s Milkshake Channel later this year.
