France’s TF1 Production, in partnership with Cyber Group Studios, has started production on Mini Ninjas, based on Square Enix’s bestselling console and online video game IP.

Cyber Group is on board as executive co-producer and will also handle global distribution for the new 52 x 13-minute 2D HD series aimed at the six to 10-year-old set.

The action comedy series, which will air on TF1’s kids programming block TFOU, follows the adventures of a new generation of ninjas who fight to free innocent animals transformed into frightful samurais by an evil wizard warlord.

In addition, a merchandising program around the series is planned with TF1 Licenses as worldwide licensing agent and RAI has already picked up the series to air in Italy.

To date, more than one million units of the Mini Ninjas video game have been sold worldwide.
