After 10 years with the company, Suzanne French is stepping down as VP of children’s and family programming at Toronto, Canada-based prodco Shaftesbury.
French announced her departure Tuesday, noting that her last day in the VP position will be December 14. She will continue to consult on a number of kids projects at the company, including The Ohmies, a new preschool series in development with Canadian pubcaster CBC.
“After 10 years at Shaftesbury, I’m taking a break to recharge and regroup. I am tremendously proud of my accomplishments at Shaftesbury, and am thrilled to stay involved in my current projects with the company,” she said.
French joined Shaftesbury in 2002 to launch the company’s kids entertainment division, out of which the company produced a stream of award-winning kids and teen series, including Life with Derek (Disney and Family Channel), Dark Oracle (YTV) and Overruled! (Family).
Previous to joining the company, French launched AAC Kids, the children’s production arm of Alliance Atlantic Communications, and worked as head of original programming at YTV.
