Disney Junior’s multiplatform launch of its inaugural little girl princess property Sofia the First is kicking off with an illustrated storybook, an upcoming online experience, a digital album, an animated TV movie and series.

Disney Publishing debuted a Sofia the First illustrated storybook and eBook written by Catherine Hapka and illustrated by Grace Lee on October 30. Both are available from Disney Press at US retailers.

On November 2, a DisneyJunior.com/Sofia online experience will launch featuring a downloadable party kit for the Sofia the First: Once Upon A Princess TV movie including invitations, recipe ideas and activity booklets.

For TV, the hour-long Sofia the First: Once Upon A Princess movie premieres November 18 at 7:00 p.m., ET/PT on Disney Channel, on November 22 at 9:00 a.m., ET/PT on Disney Junior and on WATCH Disney Junior, Disney Junior On Demand and DisneyJunior.com. Following a mother-daughter theme, Jessie‘s Skai Jackson and Good Luck Charlie‘s Mia Talerico and their moms will host the Disney Channel telecast while celebrity mom Alison Sweeney (The Biggest Loser) and her daughter will host the Disney Junior telecast.

The new TV series developed by Craig Gerber (Pixie Hollow Games) will premiere in early 2013. Aimed at kids ages two to seven, Sofia the First features Modern Family‘s Ariel Winter as the voice of Sofia.

In addition, a Sofia digital EP album from Walt Disney Records is set to hit iTunes on November 13.
